Weekend getaway in Napa 🍷

Hi friends!

How is it that we’re halfway through October already??? I feel the holiday madness creeping in, or rather BARGING in. I’m somehow booked every weekend through November, and now find myself scheduling social/hobby times during the week. This is something I’ve been scaling back on (as explained in my latest podcast ep)

It feels like a test from the universe to see if I’ve learned my lessons around intentional rest, which I did so well over the summer! But now that the holiday season is right around the corner and I have many celebrations coming up, will I be able to incorporate this new lifestyle change???

I have a few events planned for November. I know I just talked about rest, but I’m also in an era where I’m energized by newness. New places, new hobbies, new people. All in the name of experimentation and expansion.

Speaking of new places, I just came back from a weekend of wine tasting in Napa. This was my first time going to multiple wine tastings in one day, and to be honest, as much as I love wine, I think one winery a day is a good balance for me. When I got to the second tasting, I could not finish the flight. Wine always makes me feel so full for some reason. I still had a great time checking out new wineries and talking to friends who are into wine. I’d love to join a wine club and meet more wine enthusiasts, but I’m not sure if my alcohol intolerance can handle more than 1-2 glasses at a time 😅

That’s all for now! I have a few minutes before class (yes I’m a student now) so I’m going to make some tea and finish my laundry. Chat later!

Culture

screen-free activities

I’ve been really into activities that can take me away from screens. My full-time job requires me to work on the computer all day. Content/blogging also involves lots of screen time, and to be honest, I’m tired of digital things. I’m craving activities that evoke physical senses - like taste, smell, touch, etc. Hence why I’ve been really into wine tasting and arts and crafts.

I was not a wine person until a year ago, and I was not an arts and crafts person until this year, so it’s been interesting to experience this character development 😂 I’m grateful for the time and resources to pursue these random hobbies, and I’m excited to find out where they will take me next!

Music

I’ve been really into jazz house lately. It feels like a more demure version of deep house, which I also love. I saw Dublon live in SF recently and it was a surprisingly fun set. I said “surprising” because I expected it to be more chill and lounge-y, perhaps a bit muzak-y, but I really enjoyed it!

Write me a note below!

What hobbies are you pursuing right now and which doors have they opened for you?
